RacesReviewed / Race Intelligence
The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon delivers a spectacular first half, with fast, flat miles along the waterfront that treat runners to unobstructed Manhattan skyline views under the Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and Manhattan bridges, and enthusiastic Brooklyn neighborhoods cheering the whole way. The second half flips the script, featuring a relentless series of climbs—especially the steep 131‑foot Flatbush Avenue ascent and the exposed rollers of Eastern Parkway—that many first‑time half‑marathoners find far harder than expected. Runners praised the well‑organized wave starts for the huge 25,000‑person field and the post‑race Brooklyn bagel and finisher medal, but noted the lack of course gels, spotty cell service and confusing exit signage at the Prospect Park finish, as well as a registration price that feels high for the production level.
